Clarifying Attention, Executive Functioning, and Next Steps
Adult ADHD can show up in many different ways, including difficulty sustaining attention, disorganization, procrastination, forgetfulness, mental fatigue, restlessness, or feeling overwhelmed by everyday demands. An assessment is designed to provide a clearer understanding of your attentional and behavioural profile, determine whether ADHD may be present, and offer practical recommendations to support functioning in daily life.
What is an adult ADHD assessment?

An adult ADHD assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that looks at attention, executive functioning, behavioural patterns, mental health, and relevant developmental, academic, occupational, and life history to determine whether ADHD may be contributing to current difficulties.

Who are adult ADHD assessments for?

Adult ADHD assessments are for adults (18+) who may be experiencing ongoing difficulties with attention, focus, organization, time management, impulsivity, follow-through, or mental overload in daily life, school, or work.

When should I consider an adult ADHD assessment?

You may wish to consider an assessment if you have longstanding concerns related to inattention, disorganization, forgetfulness, restlessness, procrastination, emotional dysregulation, or difficulty managing responsibilities, especially if these challenges are affecting work, academics, relationships, or day-to-day functioning.

Can an adult ADHD assessment identify other factors that may be affecting attention?

Yes. An assessment helps clarify whether ADHD may be present while also considering other factors that can affect attention and executive functioning, such as anxiety, stress, mood, learning history, or other behavioural factors.

What are the benefits of an adult ADHD assessment?

An assessment can provide greater clarity, validation, and direction. It can help explain patterns that may have been present for years, identify strengths and areas of need, support recommendations for work or school accommodations where appropriate, and guide next steps for treatment or support.

What will I receive at the end of the assessment?

You will receive a comprehensive written report summarizing the findings, diagnostic impressions where appropriate, and individualized recommendations to support functioning across settings such as work, school, and everyday life.

How do I know if this is the right type of assessment?

If your main concerns relate to attention, executive functioning, distractibility, organization, or possible ADHD symptoms, this assessment may be a good fit. A consultation can help determine whether an adult ADHD assessment or another type of assessment would be most appropriate.
